JUNIOR ORIGINAL CONCERT (JOC)
Junior Original Concert
Junior Original Concert (JOC) is a one-of-a-kind musical showcase for children around the world who have participated in the Yamaha Music Education System. Through JOC these young musicians have the opportunity to unlock their full musical potential by composing original pieces and performing them before enthusiastic audiences.
Every year, JOC composers/performers are invited to perform in different countries in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Their compositions include pop, classical and modern style.
The first JOC was held in Nemu-no-Sato, Japan, in 1972. Since then Junior Original Concerts have been held in 28 countries, and with renowned orchestras such as the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington, D.C., conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich; the Vienna Symphony, conducted by Horst Stein; and the New World Symphony, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas.
Often acclaimed as the "Young Ambassadors of Music," JOC performers spread the message of music -- which goes far beyond words -- throughout the world.
